Destin Fl Charter Boats have put together some of the FAQ’S charter fishing customers have asked. We are here to help you with any questions you may have, in order to  help make your charter fishing experience as memorable as can be.

Captain Scott and crew work hard to make sure that you have a great trip! We have been fishing with Captain Scott for 5 years plus.

CRH

Will I need my own tackle and fishing license?
No, provided for you will be tackle ready to fish with and a fishing license that covers all fisherman on board.
What should I bring with me?
You will need to bring food and drinks to last for the duration of your fishing charter. Also need to bring your cooler to keep your drinks and food cold, and at the end of the charter you can use your cooler to bring your catch home!

Other suggested items would be; hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and possibly a light jacket.

How far in advance do I need to arrive for my trip?
If you have a morning trip booked, you can arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your departure time and still have plenty of time to load your belongings and crew on the boat.

If you have an afternoon trip booked you will need to arrive at the dock about an hour prior to your departure time. Be sure that you allow adequate time for traffic.

What age do you have to be to go on Charters?
We invite all ages to enjoy the pleasure of Charter Fishing!  Children are welcome and enjoyed on these trips!  Nothing better than seeing a child’s face the first time they catch a fish!  We can take adults up to any age healthy enough in body and mind to want to go!
What type of fish will we likely catch?
There are bottom fishing trips for reef fish (Red Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, White Snapper, Black Snapper, Triggerfish, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Scamp Grouper) etc. and trolling trips for King and Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Cobia, Tuna, and Marlin.  Prior to departure the Captain will discuss your options based on his/her recent successes as well as your input about what you would like to do.
What happens with the fish we catch?
As long as they are in season, they will be brought back to the dock for you to keep.  They will be cleaned and bagged by the first mate who is continuing to work hard to make your fishing trip as great as can be!  There are a few local Restaurants that will also cook your fresh catch for you!  Now, it doesn’t get any better than that!
How much of a tip should I give to the mate?
It is customary for the First Mate to receive a 15% to 20% gratuity for his hard work.  He stays with you all day assuring that the deck runs smoothly and assisting everyone from tips on catching the fish, baiting hooks and de-hooking your catch, etc.  At the end of the trip he is the one who arranges the fish on the board for great fishing pictures!  After that he takes them down and cleans them and bags them for you!
What if the weather looks like rain?
If it looks like rain in the forecast, you might want to bring rain gear to be on the safe side.
